About the name...

I wanted a name to capture my background in Traditional Chinese Medicine and Yoga; the word YU is Chinese for Jade – the precious and highly auspicious green mineral, jade is most valued for its metaphysical properties. It is the ultimate "Dream Stone" revered in ancient cultures as well as today, to access the spiritual world, encourage creativity and is considered a powerful healing stone. An amulet of good luck and friendship, jade signifies wisdom gathered in tranquility, dispelling the negative and encouraging us to see ourselves as we really are. SUTRA means  thread – to join together - relevant to yoga as it skillfully weaves together all the elements of life -  mind, body, emotions, breath, soul, individuality and infinity into one exquisite tapestry. After much playing, these words were put together as the synergy between them seemed perfect; and so the name was born.

We don't think you need to deprive yourself on our retreat, in fact we believe that combining wonderful classes in a fun and supportive setting, carefully selected excursions to immerse yourself in the local culture and wellicious meals make for a perfect adventure and that's why our guests come back year after year for that "je ne sais quoi feeling".

Yoga classes, Meditation, Kirtan sessions in beautiful settings, Sound therapy healing, Massages & Acupuncture treatments are at the core of our trips, and we also make sure you enjoy the holiday part as much as the rest.

We're flexible on everything –our classes cater for all levels of experience and the activities are optional. We won’t raise our eyebrows if you feel like sleeping in, and you can join the group or spend time on your own, most guests do a bit of both.

Our groups are relatively small, normally around 10-12 people, made up of solo travellers, couples, friends– many people come on their own from all around the world. Welcome to the YUSUTRA community xx

I speak French, English, German and I am studying Chinese Mandarin. Combining my passion for travel and good health, I created YUSUTRA, keen on sharing those two passions with you.

Amazing classes, wonderful fusion of practices. A complete approach to Yoga plus the Balinese energy teachings are a perfect combination. Intuitive Flow is a beautiful Yoga Studio in Ubud where we will practice Yoga with breathtaking view in the heart of the gorgeous l island of gods.

Blessings and feeling very grateful for my collaboration with Manis, born and raised in Bali, Manis is a trained “Jero” or Balinese priestess, who has responsibility in her local community to lead ceremonies. We will follow the Balinese philosophy of Tri Hita Karana, which translates as “three causes of well-being”. It refers to harmony among people, harmony with nature and the environment, and harmony with God. These three principles guide many aspects of Balinese life, from daily rituals to Balinese architecture. On becoming a Jero, she found her sensitivity to energy heightened, so turned to yoga and mediation to balance it.

She practices and teaches hatha and prana yoga, and meditation.

Amazing YOGA on the Kenyan coast

Rated by the Telegraph's Travel Site as one of the "Best Hotels in Kenya" and as one of Kenya Airways' Msafiri Magazine's "100 Most Unforgettable Experiences" globally, Watamu Treehouse is situated on one of the most picturesque stretches of Watamu beach. Built high in the trees, its unique architecture affords a 360 degree panorama of the Indian Ocean coastline on one side and native forest on the other.

Namaste. We'll combine yoga, meditation and relaxation with health, adventure and nature and a variety of special teachers. Morris teaches an active Vinyasa flow, Hatha and restorative practice to release tension and bring us closer to our authentic self- in body, mind and spirit. The natural setting of Watamu Treehouse is a perfect location to breathe in the beauty of the Kenyan coast, surrender to the sounds of the ocean while letting go of all things that no longer serve you, enabling you to re-energize and reconnect.
